© Eu fugiat irure aliqua, tempor eiusmod veniam, culpa laboris non commodo sed enim dolore nulla et aute 2010 I was born and educated in Germany, and came to England in 1961. I lived in Taunton and continued my education in Bridgwater. My first job was in Bristol, with a firm of engineering wholesalers, before I joined the Civil Service, taking early retirement in 1997. Nearly all  my working life was spent in Bristol. During that time I met and married my wife Winnie, who sadly died in 1990. In 1994 I was fortunate enough to meet my present wife Pat. After a short courtship we married in 1995. Since my arrival in Bristol I had been an active member of the local German Lutheran Church, where I held various positions on the church council and since the mid 80s also acted as a lay preacher. For many years I was  involved with the Bristol-Hannover Council twinning association. Shortly after my marriage to Pat, we both became active members of the Foresters, where I held the position of treasurer until we moved to Spain. We joined Bristol U3A and very much enjoyed our membership of their walking group as well as their monthly meetings, where I  gave a talk on the history and legends of the Harz Mountains. Shortly after our arrival in Spain an article about Denia U3A in a free paper prompted Pat to check the internet, where she found details regarding Torrevieja U3A. We immediately decided to join the walking group, since when we have been on some lovely walks,  seen some stunning scenery, and met some very nice people. We had also joined the midweek luncheon club. This not only enhanced our social life, but also introduced us to some very special restaurants and helped us to get to know the area. Whenever we can we attend the monthly meetings. This is where we found out more about the family history group, and as it had always been Pat's wish to delve into her family background, we also joined this group, and are very happy with the  results.
