U3A stands for the University of the Third Age and ours is a self help group based
in Torrevieja, (Costa Blanca, Spain) for people aged 50 and over. There is no
specified minimum age for membership but we are aimed at those who are no
longer in full time employment.
The purpose of our organisation is to provide education and leisure opportunities,
in a relaxed and friendly environment.
Local U3As are learning co-operatives which draw upon the knowledge and skills of
their own members to organise and provide interest groups in accordance with the
wishes of the membership.
Our organisation encourages and enables older people to help each other share
their knowledge, skills and experience to celebrate the capabilities and potential
of older people and their value to society.
Between them, groups offer the chance to study many different subjects in varied
fields and our approach to learning is "learning for pleasure". There is no
accreditation or validation and there are no assessments or qualifications to be
gained.
Our current activities include History of Spain, Art Appreciation, Computing, Mah
Jong, Geneology, Bridge, Psychology, Painting, Literature, Cross Stitch, Water
Colour Painting, Spanish, Modern Dancing, Creative Writing, Travel, Walking etc.
etc.
More courses are added as new members come along and offer new skills which
they are willing to share with other members.
Don’t just think about it...
Come and join us!
